Swine flu cases put officials on alert in Kurnool

Mr Satish Chandra said if necessary, health camps should be set up to prevent spread of swine flu.

Kurnool/Vijayawada: With three more persons testing positive for H1N1 virus in Kurnool on Tuesday, the number of affected people touched 33 this season.

The disease has claimed 12 lives this season in Kurnool, while 12 others were discharged from the hospital and the remaining nine are undergoing treatment.

So far 128 positive cases have been reported in the state against 8,025 in the country since January 21. Of these, 37 cases were reported from Visakhapatnam, 31 from Chittoor and 33 from Kurnool.

Reviewing the situation, special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Satish Chandra directed officials to be alert and bring awareness among people on swine flu.

Mr Satish Chandra conducted a teleconference with officials on Tuesday and asked them to launch a campaign at public places, including bus stands, railway stations, temples, churches and dargahs, schools and colleges and also in Tirumala where lakhs of people gather, to create awareness.

He also directed the municipal officials to concentrate on sanitation. Mr Satish Chandra said if necessary, health camps should be set up to prevent spread of swine flu.
