Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said the government would fill 1.12 lakh vacancies in various departments before its term ends in 2019 as promised. Nobody needs to doubt the TRS government’s commitment on this, he told the Assembly.
Mr Rao said the government would welcome constructive criticism and take corrective measures but would not accede to baseless allegations of the Opposition against the TSPSC. “The UPSC has recently appointed TSPSC chairman Ghanta Chakrapani as its standing committee chairman, which was never given to a Telugu person in recent times. This shows how efficiently the TSPSC is working under his leadership,” Mr Rao said.
The CM clarified that there was no limit on the number of students from weaker sections availing the overseas education scholarships of up to Rs 20 lakh. “Though we have set a criteria to ensure admissions in foreign universities, we are giving relaxation in special cases,” he said
Mr Rao said the government was giving priority to providing quality education to the poor by setting up hundreds of residential schools, where Rs 1.20 lakh was being spent on each student per year, on par with students in corporate schools.
Mr Rao said the fee reimbursement arrears were being cleared in phases. Not satisfied with this, Congress MLAs walked out from the House.
