Land to be acquired to meet water needs in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: To provide 10 tmc ft of drinking water to Hyderabad city, Medchal collector M.V. Reddy on Monday directed officials to acquire 1,194 acre of forests, 1,690 acres of government land and 587 acres of patta land from farmers for the construction of a reservoir at Keshavapur near Keesara on the city outskirts.
The collector during a public opinion programme said that the administration would provide compensation to farmers as per the Land Acquisition Act.
“We are taking up the survey of government lands as well as patta lands for the drinking water project,” he said.
Local MLA M. Sudhir Reddy told farmers that the government had halved the storage capacity of the reservoir to protect farmers’ land.
“All public representatives will meet the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and will be seeking requesting more compensation,” said Mr Sudhir Reddy.
What IS needed
3,575 acre: Land needed for the reservoir.
1,194 acre: Forest land to be utilised.
1,690 acre: Government land.
587 acre: Patta land: (434 acres in Bomranpet, 104 in Ponnala and 25 acres each in Keshavapur and Yakutpura).
