Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has warned the Congress leaders not to try to sabotage the party’s prospects in their respective seats in the ensuing assembly polls if they are denied ticket.
Addressing the Shankalp Shivir (camp) of local Congress leaders in Bilaspur district late on Tuesday, Mr Baghel said that only one aspirant wins party nomination for an assembly constituency in the polls, leaving other ticket claimants disappointed.
But, the aspirants who would be denied ticket should not work against the party candidate by trying to sabotage the party's prospects in the particular seat; he said and added that that would not be tolerated at any cost.
He asked state Congress president Deepak Baij, who attended the camp, to be vigilant on the dissidents after ticket distribution and ensure that the party put up a united face while taking on the BJP in the elections.
Mr Baghel said that unity in the party was essential to achieve the party’s target to win 75 out of 90 seats in the year-end assembly elections.
Congress has started organising ‘Sankalp Shivirs’ in all the assembly constituencies in the state to galvanise the party workers ahead of the forthcoming assembly polls in the state, due in November this year.
Mr Baghel and Mr Baij have been addressing the Congress workers and leaders attending the camps.
