SKU student gets PG marksheet after eight years of wait!
Anantapur: A student who completed his post graduation from Sri Krishnadevaraya University in Anantapur finally received his final year mark list after a long wait of eight years.
Satyanarayana had joined M Com in distance mode in 2011 and completed his course in 2013. Even after submitting all certificates and documents in the first year itself, his exam results were withheld for reasons best known to the varsity staff and on Tuesday, he received his final year mark sheet, much to his relief and delight.
Satyanarayana’s case is not singular. Thousands of students who completed postgraduate courses in distance mode from the prestigious Sri Krishnadevaraya University have been waiting for their mark lists and certificates for the past eight years.
The varsity staff working in the distance education department are still unable to rectify the technical issues even though nearly 20 employees were suspended and punished over large scale irregularities and negligence.
“I submitted records for the first year in time during 2012 examinations and passed in all theory subjects, but my result was withheld. Now, I received the final year marks memo,” he told this newspaper.
Thousands of certificates and other records of students of distance education of different courses were dumped in the department with no proper care for the past eight years. The authorities who noticed the sorry state of affairs in the distance education wing and examination sections, so far suspended and issued notices to at least 20 employees in the connecting departments.
Examination section officials told this correspondent that some reforms were going on in the department and they were clearing all pending certificates and also making rectifications based on representations by the students.
Sri Krishnadevaraya University established the Centre for Distance Education (CDE) in 2000-01 with the postgraduate courses and in 2005-06, it introduced graduation courses for the benefit of those who could not pursue education in regular mode.
