Jacobites to move SC with original manuscript of Church constitution
KOCHI: The Jacobite Syrian Church has decided to approach the Supreme Court claiming it has got the original manuscript of the 1934 constitution of the Malankara Church. While addressing the media here on Friday, the Jacobite faction claimed that they got the original manuscript one month ago.
'We will examine it in detail and will probe the legal possibilities to review the Supreme Court order. The manuscript will be brought to the attention of the apex court. The Orthodox faction is not accepting the demand for conducting a scientific analysis of the manuscript of the constitution and not producing it before the state government fearing that their deception will be exposed," alleged Mathews Mor Anthimos Metropolitan.
According to the Jacobite faction, there are contradictions in the handbook of constitution published from 1934 to 2018, approved by the Supreme Court.
Instead of convening a meeting of Malankara Association to amend the handbook, the Orthodox group has made unilateral and illegal changes even in the basic details.
The Orthodox group is challenging the government and the judicial system by not producing the manuscript and ignoring the government's instruction, they alleged.
Metropolitan Dr Kuriakose Theophilos and Joseph Mar Gregorios, Metropolitan Trustee of the Church also attended the press meet.
