Guv P Sathasivam: Utilise med resources creatively

Neurological problems especially related to spine constitute a larger part of ailments faced by our elderly people.

KOCHI: Governor Justice (retd) P. Sathasivam on Friday said that a creative approach is needed to utilise medical resources to ensure equitable treatment and care for the betterment of all. Inaugurating the international conference on spine surgery 'Spine 2019' which is discussing the latest minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical techniques, technological advancements and improved patient safety, here over over three days, he said that our health sector now has every latest tools and technology at its disposal as in any advanced nations to identify and treat so many disorders that remained incurable in the past.

The event is organised by Neuro Spinal Surgeons Association of India (NSSA) in association with the Cochin Spine Society with the theme 'minimally invasive and technology driven spine surgery.'

‘’Neurological problems especially related to spine constitute a larger part of ailments faced by our elderly people. The area therefore requires a little more emphasis," he said.

The Governor conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua, Bangladesh and honarary membership of NSSA to Dr Krishna Sharma, Nepal. Dr P.S Ramani NSSA founder president was also honoured on the occasion.
