Guinness record for ‘Largest Jute Bag’ created in Kovai

The bag that measures 65-ft high and 33-ft in wide was created in five-hours by nine visually challenged persons.

Coimbatore: Chandran’s Yuva Foundation and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management, launched a 65-feet largest jute bag in Coimbatore on Friday, thus creating a Guinness World record for the ‘Largest Jute Bag’ category. The bag that measures 65-ft high and 33-ft in wide was created in five-hours by nine visually challenged persons from the Chandrans Yuva Foundation.

Members of the transgender community were involved in stitching the jute bag and the team was assisted by staff and students of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management, District collector K Rajamani and Balaji Saravanan Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Coimbatore City Police inaugurated the event. One of the organisors stated that the aim of creating the largest jute bag is to sensitise the public to switch to eco-friendly alternatives instead of harmful plastic carry bags.
