Tiruchy to get traffic park to drive home safety message

Under its dream ride' initiative, Honda has also dedicated female instructors to impart training to women in just four hours.

TIRUCHY: The ancient cosmopolitan town of Tiruchy is all set to get an exclusive ‘traffic park’ that will help disseminate the much-needed message of road safety across all age-groups beginning from five-year-old kids, as part of a constructive social commitment to bring down the road accidents rate.

The traffic park in Tiruchy would soon become a reality, thanks to the globally recognised two-wheeler manufacturer ‘Honda’, whose product improvement goes alongside with improving road safety by promoting such ‘traffic parks’ across the country.

Having already adopted 13 traffic parks (two in Delhi, one each in Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola, Hyderabad, Indore, Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Karnal and Thane in Maharashtra), the two-wheeler major is now eyeing Tiruchy to set up one more such ‘traffic park’ in Tamil Nadu. Under its ‘dream ride’ initiative, Honda has also dedicated female instructors to impart training to women in just four hours. Honda’s free initiative is open to all irrespective of age and gender, says Prabhu Nagaraj vice president, operating head, Brand and Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd. “Our ultimate aim in establishing these traffic parks is to ensure India becomes accident-free,” he said. The project will be in collaboration with the Tiruchirappalli municipal corporation and the city police, he noted. Stating that Tamil Nadu was among the top three states in terms of two-wheelers on the road, Mr. Nagaraj said that they had “successfully educate” over one lakh people in their ‘Coimbatore traffic park’.
