Rahul Gandhi calls TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, RC Khuntia to Delhi

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, AICC general secretary and Telangana Congress affairs in-charge RC Khuntia left for Delhi on Thursday after a summons from the high command. Three in-charge AICC secretaries of the Telangana Congress also left for Delhi.

The high command has summoned these leaders to discuss an action plan on elections and appoint election related committees. AICC president Rahul Gandhi will meet Uttam Kumar Reddy, Khuntia and the AICC secretaries and in this meeting, he is likely to give an action plan to the TPCC regarding assembly elections.

TRS chief and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said he would announce the first list of party candidates in September. Mr Rahul and the TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy may also discuss announcing some of their candidates in September, a huge public meeting to counter the TRS Pragathi Nivedana Sabha, inviting UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to this meeting and Mr Rahul’s visit to Telangana in September.

The high command is also likely to appoint committees which are due since a long time. According to sources, MLA A Revanth Reddy will be appointed as chairman of the TPCC campaign committee and MLA DK Aruna as convenor of the TPCC campaign committee. Former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha is likely to be appointed as TPCC election manifesto committee chairman and MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy as convenor.

The high command has taken the decision to appoint three PCC working presidents in all states. At present, MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is the only working president in the TPCC. Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar and former union minister Balaram Naik are likely to be appointed as TPCC working presidents.
