Telangana: Sanitation staff go missing

Hyderabad: While mosquitoes continue to breed in stagnant water in the circles of Kapra, Alwal and Yapral, health and sanitation officers are conspicuous by their absence.

Roads in Kapra and Yapral were dug up by the Water Works department for laying pipelines and later covered with earth. Following the rains, the mud has settled and this has led to huge holes and puddles. A senior officer at Yapral said, “A large number of the GHMC staff is stationed near the lakes. The staff from epidemiology department, who are supposed to check the areas after the rains, are not present. Anti-mosquito steps have to be initiated on stagnant water in major colonies. It is important to curb spreading of mosquitoes.” Currently, mud, silt and muck are blocking the movement of water.
