NTR varsity to give grace marks

It is learnt that the NTRUHS officials were pressured from political circles close to CMO and Health Minister Dr Kamineni Sreenivas.

Vijayawada: Ignoring the Medical Council of India’s (MCI) direction, the NTR University for Health Sciences (NTRUHS) has decided again to award grace marks.

In February, the MCI had directed the medical colleges, PG medical institutions and health universities across the country to give up “grace marks culture” immediately and had even asked administrative heads of the said institutions details related to action taken so far on the subject.

NTRUHS had landed in controversy in September, following its decision to grant grace marks to PG students of nearly 30 disciplines, including diploma and degrees of PG super-specialty courses. It is learnt that the NTRUHS officials were pressured from political circles close to CMO and Health Minister Dr Kamineni Sreenivas.

When contacted, NTRUHS registrar S. Appala Naidu said the proposal of awarding grace marks this year was before the executive council of the university.
