Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday evening appointed Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma as the state’s new Director General of Police (DGP).
Mr Sharma, who now serves as the director of state vigilance wing, replaces the incumbent DGP K.B. Singh. He will assume his new responsibility on Thursday.
The incumbent DGP Mr Singh has been appointed as the chairperson of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation.
The government appointed Crime Branch DG Bijaya Kumar Shama as DG, prison.
“It’s a big challenge for me and I will try to give my best of efforts for better policing,” said Dr Sharma in his reaction being appointed as the new DGP.
The Director General of Police added that crime control and maintaining of law order would be his top priority.
Mr Arun Ray has been appointed as ADG, Police Headquarters.
