Andhra Pradesh: Ganesh Utsav committees told to follow norms
Andhra Pradesh: Civic authorities instructed the Ganesh Utsav committees not to cause sound pollution by playing songs through high decibel loudspeakers, as it causes inconvenience to the people in city.
Municipal commissioner V. Vijaya Rama Raju said here on Wednesday that they were receiving complaints from several people that they were unable to bear the noise from speakers at Ganesh pandals. He directed the town planning authorities to inspect the pandals and even seize sound systems if the organisers fail to comply with the specified norms.
He said that immersion of Ganesh idols would be permitted in the River Godavari at Isuka Ramp ghat only up to 9.00 pm and asked the devotees not to dump puja material in the river. He instead advised them to hand over such material to the civic staff at Pushkar ghat
The commissioner appreciated the gesture of several organisers and people who have installed idols made of clay and also smaller in size as they are eco-friendly.
“There is good response to these norms especially from middle income group residential colonies,” said Mr Raju and added that organisers ensure smooth vehicular traffic.
