Hyderabad: Cabbie tries to rape private airline employee
Hyderabad: A cab driver allegedly tried to rape a 28 year-old private airline employee on Tuesday, when she came out of her house to purchase some personal items from a medical shop in Rajendranagar.
The driver, who saw the woman on the road, promised to drop her at the shop where she wanted to go. But, when she boarded the cab, he drove to an isolated place and tried to rape her. When the woman resisted, he assaulted her and left her after taking her mobile phone and some cash. The victim sustained minor injuries in the assault.
Following a complaint, police have booked a case and started an investigation.
Senior police officials claimed that they have already tracked down the cab and the suspect will be arrested soon.
According to the the victim, who is a resident of Rajendranagar, she had boarded a cab at around 2 am near 212 pillar of PVNR Expressway. She wanted to purchase some items and was walking on the road towards a nearby medical shop.
“At about 2 am, she came out from her flat to purchase personal items. Meanwhile the cab driver approached her saying that he will drop her wherever she wanted to go. When she boarded the car, the driver misguided her and took her to an isolated place where he tried to pull her shirt. She tried to escape, but he caught hold of her and tried to molest her. She managed to resist him and raised the alarm. He forcibly snatched away her cellphone and assaulted her, due to which she sustained injuries. The cab driver then left her in an isolated place and fled,” said Shamshabad DCP Sunpreet Singh.
With the help of another cab driver the woman informed her friend who called the police. The cops rescued her. Based on a complaint lodged by her, a case of attempt to rape and robbery has been registered, the DCP said. Five special teams have been formed. Footage of CCTV cameras is being checked. The DCP said the case would be cracked soon.
