Tamil Nadu local bodies paralysed without polls: Indian Union Muslim League
TIRUCHY: Prof K.M. Kader Moideen, national president of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) strongly condemned the TN for not holding elections to the local bodies in the state. He said the state's hesitation stemmed from its fear of defeat.
Speaking to newsmen here after the party's Tiruchy South and North districts general council meeting on Tuesday, he alleged that government's delay in holding elections to the local bodies was only to "pocket" commissions from contracts. The local bodies have been paralysed with no elections held in the last three years, he said.
He urged the Centre to withdraw its draft national education policy (NEP) "in Toto" as it would not help any section of society. Expressing concern over increasing mob attacks across the country, he urged a committee under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take firm action against such unwarranted incidents.
To a question, he charged the AIADMK with playing a 'dual role' in the Triple Talaq legislation issue. Prof Kader Moideen expressed confidence that the DMK would win the Lok Sabha election from Vellore slated for August 5.
