Hyderabad: The northern districts of the state are forecast to get moderate to heavy rains The districts in the south will receive scattered showers, according to a weather bulletin.

It said a cyclonic circulation around Odisha and northern TS is responsible for the weather condition. It will bring rains for two more days and then there will be a short break for the monsoon for a day or two. “There will rain for 10 days and then the monsoon will take a break in the middle of August,” said Skymet chief meteorologist Mahesh Palawat.

Over the last few days,  the southwest monsoon has been active over the state. Extremely heavy rain occurred in the districts of Kumaram Bheem, Adilabad, Mancherial, Kamareddy and Nirmal, further bringing down the deficit to 16 per cent.

July, the second month of the monsoon, had witnessed a dry spell in the second and third weeks but the monsoon currents got re-activated during the month end. The prevailing cyclonic condition over Odisha added moisture to the winds leading to an increase in rain intensity.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very rainfall for July 31 and August for the northern districts.

For Hyderabad, the prediction is generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers during the same period.
