Hyderabad: Driver booked for taking techie home, harassing her
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman techie working with Infosys was allegedly harassed by an autorickshaw driver who attempted to forcibly take her to his home instead of dropping at her destination and followed and abused her.
The police on Tuesday arrested the driver, identified as Shiva Raj, 30, and remanded him to judicial custody.
According to the Medipally police, the victim, a native of Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, reached the city from her native place and took an autorickshaw till Uppal crossroads.
At about 4.15 am, she boarded another autorickshaw (TS12 UA 9912) to go to her hostel in Medipally police limits.
The driver instead of taking her to the hostel took her on another route. When she questioned him, he took her bag and drove her to his home located in Peerzadiguda.
There, he reportedly tried to force the complainant to enter his home. She refused and screamed at the driver. He dropped her back at Peerzadiguda main road, the police said.
“The woman immediately boarded an RTC bus passing on the road but the driver followed her till her hostel. When the woman got down from the bus, the driver approached her and misbehaved by abusing her in filthy language and threatened her with dire consequences. She rushed inside the hostel and informed her roommates and hostel owner Tejeshwar Reddy,” a police official said.
Based on the complaint, a case under IPC Section 354C has been registered and Shiva Raj was apprehended and remanded to the judicial custody, said Medipally police.
