Pawan Kalyan corners Telugu Desam on liquor outlets

He arrived here three hours behind schedule and said that he was stopped by womenfolk who were fighting against liquor shops.

Visakhapatnam: The Jana Sena appears to have taken up the liquor issue to corner the Telugu Desam, with party supremo Pawan Kalyan displaying a placard saying “No liquor outlet in residential areas”, while speaking at a symposium on the chronic kidney disease in Uddanam, Srikakulam here on Sunday.

He arrived here three hours behind schedule and said that he was stopped by womenfolk who were fighting against liquor shops in residential areas.

“I know it is not the occasion to display the placard, which I got from the agitators. I was forced to display as it affects several women,” he said.

Sources said JS would launch a protest against TD for trying to raise more money by giving permissions to set up the liquor outlets in residential areas. Women have been protesting the decision.

Pawan ready to seek Jagan’s help
Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan on Sunday said that he is ready to seek the support of YSRC’s supremo YS Jaganmohan Reddy for his fight against the kidney diseases in Uddanam region of Srikakulam district. “ I believe in humanity and not in caste or religion. I want to find a solution for the Uddanam issue and if necessary with the support of Jagan I will continue my fight for the noble cause,” he said.

People should keep their party affiliations aside and work to address the major issue in the state, which has officially claimed more than 4,500 lives in the past one decade. Over 35,000 people in the region are still suffering from the disease in Uddanam, he added.

Pawan Kalyan said his team would meet CM Chandrababu Naidu on Monday and ask him to take concrete measures on the issue.
