Hyderabad police deny MBT's claim on temples
Hyderabad: Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) on Sunday claimed that a new temple is being constructed in the premises of Indira Priyadarshini College for Women at Nampally. However, police claimed that a temple, which was already in existence at the college premises for several years is being rennovated.
MBT spokesperson Amjed ullah Khan alleged that some persons were constructing a temple in the compound where a high school and intermediate, degree, high school, polytechnic college functions. “Some anti socials are constructing a temple in the premises for last three days and aim to spread unrest in the educational institution,” Mr. Khan said.
When contacted, B Srinivasa Rao, Inspector of Begum Bazaar, said that they had inspected the place and that enquiries revealed that the temple exists at the place for last several years.
He said, the temple committee members were replacing an iron grill with brick wall as rain water was entering into the temple premises. “We insisted that they only raise the wall to the height of the grill and they obliged. Local public representatives also visited the place in our presence,” Mr. Rao added.
