Bigg Boss sued for Rs 100 crore
Coimbatore: More trouble is brewing for reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ as Puthiya Tamizhagam founder-leader Dr K. Krishnasamy served a legal notice on a private TV channel and actor Kamal Hassan after one of its participants in the show spoke ill of people living in slums.
Speaking to journalists in Coimbatore on Sunday, Krishnasamy said that he had served the notice seeking Rs 100 crore as damages for the inappropriate and hurtful comments of an actor in the reality show.
“Almost two weeks were given to Kamal and the channel to tender an apology for the denigrating comments made by actor Ms Gayatri Raghuram against slum people. She referred to another participant’s behaviour as ‘cheri’ behavior, which hurt the sentiments of people living in slums,” he said.
As there was no response, Mr Krishnasamy said a legal notice was sent demanding a compensation of Rs 100 crore. “Actor Kamal and the TV channel should tender an unconditional apology within a week of receiving the legal notice. If not, I will move the court seeking Rs 100 crore as damages and press for filing of criminal charges against them,” he said.
Mr Krishnasamy said that notices were also issued to actor Gayatri Raghuram, Deepak Dhar, CEO and managing director, Endemol Shine India, Mumbai, and Ajay Vidya Sagar, general manager, Star Vijay TV, Chennai.
