Bengaluru: What's on menu Check it on Indira canteen app
Bengaluru: Out of 85 Indira canteens for which the construction has taken off, 45 have already been completed and over 127 locations have been taken over by the KEF Infra Ltd.
However, the BBMP is coming with a mobile app for the canteen, which is divided into four different modules. Though the app will be launched on August 15, the BBMP is ready with the prototype. Under the first module which is for the citizens, the app will provide location of five nearest canteens along with the menu of the day. There is also an option to rate the canteen and the citizen can also exercise the option of filing complaints on the app.
The second module is for the officers under which the Joint Commissioner will place indent on the app itself. If a canteen has a provision for 300 plates for breakfast and for lunch but the crowd at the canteen exceeds then the number can be increased to 350 or 450.
In the third module, every kitchen will have an officer to monitor the food going to different areas. In order to increase transparency, the surveillance would be done through the CCTV cameras fitted in the kitchen canteens.
Special Commissioner, BBMP Manoj Rajan told Deccan Chronicle, “Billing system would be attached to the mobile app itself. We will have 27 kitchens. How much plates were served and indent of each canteen will be on the app itself.”
The canteen will have the provision of social audit in the fourth module. Here, the canteens will be equipped with a ticker which will keep on updating the customers about the food.
