Congress burns effigies of Narendra Modi, Chandrababu Naidu, Venkaiah Naidu

The city unit of Congress staged a protest and burnt the effigies.

Visakhapatnam: A day after Union finance minister Arun Jaitley made it clear in Parliament that there was no question of according special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, the city unit of Congress staged a protest and burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu here in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

A huge number of Congress workers gathered at the party office near Jagadamba Junction and shouted slogans against both BJP and TD. APCC general secretary Dronamraju Srinivas said, “BJP and TD are least bothered about the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Both parties, who accuse us of bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, are now showing their true colours. We demand the government to implement all the promises made during the state bifurcation including a special package for Uttarandhra and other backward areas in the state and new railway zone besides according special status,” he added. Pedada Ramani Kumari, Behera Bhaskara Rao and others were present.
