Srinagar: The sources said that the Army’s alert jawans defending the LoC noticed the movement of an infiltrating group of militants late Friday night.
A Srinagar-based defence spokesman said that after noticing suspicious movement along the LoC in Nowgam sector during the intervening night, the troops challenged the infiltrators who opened fire which was quickly returned and a fire fight started. Two soldiers were killed and another was injured, he said adding that two AK rifles, one UBGL and other “war-like stores” were found on the slain militants.
The spokesman said that this was the second major infiltration bid foiled this week. Four militants were killed and one militant was captured alive on July 26.
