HYDERABAD: After leasing out Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) for 30 years to IRB Infra, a deal that has run into a lot of controversy and opposition from different quarters, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to lease out Aqua Marine Park (tunnel aquarium), which is one of the components of the Eco-hill Park, Kothwalguda, in the city.

The partial leasing of Aqua Marine Park, to be built on 4.27 acres on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis for a period of 33 years has been kick-started with the municipal authority inviting requests for proposals (RFPs). The indicative capital for the project is ₹300 crore.

As per the official document, the HMDA has invited RFPs from eligible and interested parties, selected bidders, investors and operators of tourism projects for the development of the project on a PPP basis for a concession period of 33 years, with an option of extending for an additional period of 10 years on a right of first refusal basis.

The shortlisted firm should design, build, finance (including procurement & construction), operate, maintain (O&M) and transfer project components to HMDA at the end of the concession period.
