Will work for welfare of SC/STs, women: Ramya
Kozhikode: The major aim of my work at Alathur would be to improve the conditions of the scheduled caste/ tribe people and also help in the empowerment and safety of women, said Ramya Haridas, the MP elected from Alathur Lok Sabha constituency.
She was talking to the mediapersons at her hometown in Kozhikode on Thursday.
Ms Ramya added that she has been entrusted with a huge responsibility by the public and that she would meet their expectations.
"I will try to perform effectively as a people's representative. I will raise my voice for the scheduled caste/ tribe people in Parliament, because more people from this community live in Alathur. The experience that I had faced in my childhood for belonging to this community is all what I could see in the people living here and hence their development would be in my priority list, ''she said
She thanked the people of Alathur for the support they gave her on several issues. Development will be introduced in the region without destroying the environment, Ramya added.
