It also has a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Unit as a sub-specialty with dedicated services and team.

Bengaluru: In order to provide timely medical care to accident victims, a nodal centre for ‘golden hour’ was inaugurated at a hospital in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Thursday.

B.R. Life SSNMC Super Specialty Hospital announced the launch of the Emergency Department & Level 1 Trauma Centre and it was inaugurated by the city police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar. This is the only emergency nodal centre in Bengaluru South.

In his address the Commissioner said, “Accident cases with head injuries are on the rise. As human beings we have to make efforts to save the sufferings instead of taking photos and videos of the accident. It can also create hindrance in the emergency services which can lead to the mortality.”

The new 20-bedded facility has a dedicated triage area, decontamination bay and patient lobby, minor procedure rooms and a dedicated operation theatre for emergency cases. It also has a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Unit as a sub-specialty with dedicated services and team.

To address all kinds of emergency during the golden hour, the first hour of any emergency, “Green channel admissions” has been launched, wherein emergency patients will be admitted and stabilised. After that depending on the patient’s condition further treatment will be done.

While explaining the importance of golden hour, Dr N.K. Venkataramana, founder Chairman and Chief Neurosurgeon, BRAINS said, “Golden Hour is the first hour after any highly medical emergency or accident. A series of changes can happen during this time which is crucial for the patient and his chances of surviving the accident. Unfortunately, due to various reasons, accident victims do not get proper treatment in the first hour. This increases the mortality rate.”

To reduce chances of losing lives due to lack of proper medical attention, we are planning to come up with Golden Hour Clinics across the city that will instantly address emergency cases.”
