Kishan Reddy makes it Team Modi
Hyderabad: Secunderabad BJP MP Gangapuram Kishan Reddy, who was ruing his defeat from the Amberpet Assembly constituency in the state elections just six months ago, was inducted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ministry on Thursday.
He joined the BJP as an ordinary worker in 1980 but eventually graduated to handling key responsibilities in the party.
Having made his way up with sheer hard work and determination, Mr Reddy was first elected to the Assembly in 2004 from Himayatnagar, Hyderabad. After delimitation, he contested from Amberpet and won two consecutive terms but lost in the December 2018 elections. He also served as a floor leader of the party in the undivided Andhra Pradesh Assembly as well as the Telangana state house. Mr Reddy was president of BJP's state unit in undivided Andhra Pradesh for two terms from 2010 to 2014. After bifurcation of the state, he became president of the Telangana unit and held the position till 2016.
Before his election to the Assembly, he participated actively in the youth wing of the BJP, serving as president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
Mr Reddy also founded the World Youth Council against Terrorism (WYCAT), an apolitical organization, to fight terrorism across the world.
