Hyderabad: Chided, girl commits suicide
Hyderabad: Reportedly upset that her parents had scolded her for not securing good marks in the Intermediate examinations, a 17-year-old girl attempted suicide by jumping from the apartment she was living in at Alwal on Wednesday night.
The girl, Ramalakshmi, succumbed while undergoing treatment at a private hospital late in the night. Police registered a case of suspicious death for the probe based on her father's complaint.
Alwal inspector M. Mathaiah said Ramalakshmi, a native of West Godavari, was studying at Guntur and was staying at her maternal aunt’s house there. Her father Satyanarayana works as a watchman at an apartment in Father Balaiah Nagar Colony in Alwal.
After the completion of first-year examinations, Ramalakshmi stayed at her aunt’s house and came to the city a fortnight ago.
The results were declared in mid-April and she had not secured good marks, for which her parents reportedly scolded her.
On Wednesday night, when her parents were on the ground floor, she went to the second floor of the apartment and jumped from there.
She received bleeding injuries and was rushed to Srikara Hospital, where she succumbed late in the night.
