30,000 ‘rebuild’ appeals pending in Alappuzha
Alappuzha: The number of appeals in connection with Rebuild Kerala continues to go up in the district. According to the officials, as many as 30,000 appeals are pending in the district. The number could climb in the days to come. A meeting will soon be convened to settle them.
As per the data available with the district administration, at least 1,000 houses became inhabitable and 30,000 destroyed partially in Kuttanad region. The local bodies have been instructed to verify the appeal cases. A final decision on appeals will be taken on the basis of the report submitted by the revenue department. Least number of appeals were received from Cherthala - 91.
In Chengannur, as many as 2,000 appeals are pending while in Karthikapally, it is 7,600. At least 1,245 appeals have been received from Mavelikara. Most of the appeals are related to assessment of damage, officials said.
