Hyderabad: Schools will function for half-a-day till June 8 in view of the prevailing high temperature, education minister Kadiam Srihari said on Wednesday. This follows demands from parents and schools associations to postpone the reopening day to June 8. A schedule will be decided later based on the weather conditions.
The government issued instructions to schools to reopen on June 1 and conduct the Telangana Formation Day celebrations on June 2, Mr Srihari said.
The Telangana Recognised School Management Association (TRSSMA) had decided earlier on Wednesday to extend the summer holidays to June 10 after celebrating the Formation Day on June 2. It later said it would follow the instructions from the government .
The school education department, for the first time, had decided to reopen schools on June 1 to involve students in the Formation Day celebrations on June 2. School managements have decided to celebrate the day in a grand manner.
Earlier, Mr Srinivas Reddy, president of Telangana recognised School Management Association said, “We have decided to reopen the schools on June 11 considering that the heat wave conditions may affect the students’ health.”
