Hyderabad: The KPHB police on Wednesday announced a Rs 25,000 reward for anyone who can give clues about the identity of a woman offender accused of stealing gold from beauticians by diverting their attention.
“We have announced a cash reward so that we can trace the accused soon. Right now, we have no information about the accused, but have CCTV footage where she is seen,” said Ch. Kushalkar, inspector of KPHB police station.
The woman has two cases filed against her in Nizampet and KPHB since May 23. The accused lures beauticians by choosing an expensive bridal make-up package and later asks them to take off all their ornaments as her faith does not allow her to come in contact with people wearing ornaments.
She would then request them to keep it out of view. Once they get busy, the accused would run away with their ornaments. The woman is in her late 20's and would observe the movements of staff while talking to them.
The accused woman ran away with a four tola gold chain in Nizampet and stole gold jewellery weighing 16 tolas from KPHB in a similar manner. Police suspect that more such incidents have not been reported.
Issuing still images from a CCTV video grab, the KPHB police has appealed the public to inform the whereabouts of the accused woman for which cash reward has been announced.
