Man dies in police custody
The police found after questioning that he had handed over gold ornaments to a person in Yadadri.
Hyderabad: A man picked up for alleged theft died in the custody of the Sanathnagar police reportedly due to ill-health on Wednesday evening.
ACP, Balanagar, T. Govardhan, said Premchand, 35, was detained on a tip-off on Wednesday, for a burglary reported on Tuesday. He said that Premchand was a habitual offender.
The police found after questioning that he had handed over gold ornaments to a person in Yadadri.
The police took him to Yadadri to recover the ornaments when he complained of uneasiness. He died while he was being taken to the hospital.
A statement issued by the Cyberabad police said Premchand was ill, and died of a stroke at Bhongir.
