Bengaluru: Dr Raj Kumar Road underpass thrown open
Bengaluru: The much awaited underpass along Dr Raj Kumar Road near Vivekananda College was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday. The unidirectional underpass was built at a cost of Rs 14.65 crore.
Addressing media persons after the launch, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Bengaluru got a facelift after his government released Rs 8,100 crore, including Rs 800 crores for storm water drain and solid waste management works, to BBMP. He assured that the first phase of Metro Rail service taken up at a cost of Rs 13,600 crore would be completed and thrown open to public in June. "Government has taken up the second phase involving a cost of Rs 26,500 crore," Mr Siddaramaiah said and added that after completion of both phases over five lakh people would be able travel every day. Currently over two lakh people are commuting every day.
In addition, over 3,000 buses have been purchased for improving public transport.
