Kerala reports second Covid 19 death
A 68 year old man from Pothencode in Thiruvananthapuram infected with coronavirus, passed away on Tuesday morning taking the total number of Covid 19 deaths in Kerala to two.
The deceased Abdul Azeez, was undergoing treatment at government medical college hospital, Thiruvananthapuram and had several other serious medical complications like hypertension, thyroid problems.
He also suffered kidney failure. He was on ventilator support for last five days.
Abdul Azeez, showed virus symptoms on March 13 and was admitted to the medical college hospital on March 23. Though his first swab sample result was negative, the second lab test turned positive for the infection on March 29.
How he contracted the virus is not clear. He neither had any foreign travel history nor did he have any direct contact with any infected persons. But, he attended few weddings and a funeral, it is learnt.
The district administration have started tracing persons in the contact list of the patient, based on the information provided by family members and relatives. A route map has already been released by the authorities.
The first Covid 19 death from Kerala was reported from Ernakulam district on March 28. An NRK 69-year-old Yakub Hussain Sait died of the infection at Ernakulam government medical college hospital.
