Election Commission picks Kumar Vishwajeet as new AP Intelligence boss

AP had attached Venkateswara Rao to the police headquarters.

Vijayawada: The Election Commission on Saturday appointed Andhra Pradesh Police Recruitment Board chairman Kumar Vishwajeet as Intelligence DGP. He replaces Mr A.B. Venkateswara Rao who the government had transferred on Friday night. Mr Rao’s transfer came three days after the Election Commission order and after the Andhra Pradesh High Court refused to stay it.

The government had issued a GO attaching Mr Rao to the state police headquarters.

The Government was also quick to send a panel of three names to the Election Commission to pick the next IB chief. The government had sent the names of Mr Nalin Prabhat (1992 batch), Mr Kumar Vishwajeet (1994) and Mr Mahesh Chandra Ladda (1998).

The EC picked Mr Vishwajeet, the additional DG rank officer.
