Hyderabad: A father and son duo, farmers in Vikarabad district, died of electrocution in their field on Thursday night. The incident happened while they were watering their sugarcane field. The deceased were identified as Boyini Lakshmaiah and his son Boyini Santosh. Lakshmaiah belonged to Buddaram village in Peddemul mandal. The water level in the borewell in their field had decreased and so they sought help of farmers of neighboring fields for supply from their borewells.
Late at night, the two came to the field to set up the water supply. They set up pipe connection from the borewell in the neighbouring field to their field. The owner of the neighbouring field had set up an electric fence to protect crop from wild boars. Unaware of this, the two suffered an electric shock as they tried to cross over the fence and died on the spot.
