TRS-backed advocate loses poll

The TRS-based R. Vinod Reddy stood in the third place with 602 votes and Ponnam Ashok Goud got 647 votes.

Hyderabad: Advocate C. Damodar Reddy was elected as the president of the Telangana High Court Advocates Association.

The election of Mr Damodar Reddy with 760 votes has surprised the lawyers at the High Court as he is the chairman of the Telangana Congress Legal Cell and the Telangana Joint Action Committee has supported his candidature.

The TRS-based R. Vinod Reddy stood in the third place with 602 votes and Ponnam Ashok Goud got 647 votes.

Lawyers felt that the resignation of Mr D. Prakash Reddy from the post of Advocate- General has impacted the Bar Association elections and it has resulted in the Congress candidate winning the polls.

Mr C. Hari Preeth elected as vice-president and Mr Komati Reddy Venkata Narasimha Reddy, Mr Sunkari Janardhan Goud as secretaries, Mr U. Shanthi Bhushan Rao as joint secretary, Mr J. Amrutha Rao as treasurer and Mr A. Jan-ardhan as cultural secretary.
