Irish woman missing case: Liga Skromane's partner turns violent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Andrew Jordan, the partner of missing Latvian woman Liga Skromane was admitted to Medical College Hospital (MCH) after he engaged in violence in front of a resort near Poovar early on Friday. He had allegedly tried to vandalise property in an inebriated state at around 2 am. He was brought to Medical College Hospital by 4 am due to severe hallucination. “He alleged that the particular resort had detained and hid his wife. He wanted to search it and on being denied he turned violent,” hospital sources said.
Mr Andrew was searching for his partner at Kovalam-Poovar tourist circuit on his own and was meeting people and resort owners for information. As per police sources, he also vandalised the resort and was detained and roughed up by local people who later send him to hospital. Vizhinjam police has registered a case against him for the ruckus. “After becoming sober, he did not continue in that state of hallucination. Liquor could have the effect of a depressant,” the hospital officials added.
Mr Jordan was a farmer based in Dublin Ireland. He was dating Liga, who hailed from Latvia since past four years. Ever since they started living together, she started showing signs of depression and has sought treatment before coming to India. He was undergoing treatments including Yoga therapy with her sister Ilzie Skromane.
She had taken an autorickshaw to Kovalam beach leaving her belongings at a resort at Pothencode. Meanwhile, the Latvian embassy has got in touch with the Indian Foreign Ministry regarding the issue. The city police has intensified a probe and the state police chief had declared Rs 2 lakh for anyone giving credible information on the missing woman.
