Empower women, says Vice President Venkaiah Naidu

Hyderabad: Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Friday said that the empowerment of women will help them in leading a life of dignity, respect and allow them to make informed decisions.

Addressing a gathering at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Mahila Dakshata Samiti in the city on Friday, the Vice-President said there is enough evidence to show that women during the early Vedic period were considered to be equal to men in all walks of life and that our cultural moorings have gender equality as a core principle.

“We are proud inheritors of a culture and a world view in which women were not only treated equally but were revered,” he added.

Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Deputy CM Mohd Mahmood Ali and others were present on the occasion.
