O Panneerselvam group makes 108 promises
Chennai: The AIADMK (Puratchithalaivi Amma) led by former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has assured to establish a Mobile MLA office for the R. K. Nagar Assembly constituency, if it was elected. This will be a first of its kind initiative in the country and it formed part of a 108-point election manifesto of the Puratchithalaivi Amma party released here on Thursday by its Treasurer and former CM O. Panneerselvam.
The manifesto also promises a judicial probe into the “mysterious” death of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the conversion of her Poes Garden residence into a memorial, besides special schemes for the upliftment of fishermen and skill training for youth.
Earlier, Mr Panneerselvam lighted a lamp to mark the opening of the R. K. Nagar election office on Kothandaram street in the constituency. Former Ministers C. Ponnaiyan, KP Munusamy and K. Pandiarajan, former Speaker PH Pandian, Semmalai, MLA, JCD Prabhakar and former MP PH Manoj Pandian, were among those who participated in the function organised to mark the release of the election manifesto.
Making Kodungaiyur Ezhil Nagar dumpyard a litter-free modernised zone and establishing a world-class fish market besides assuring to resolve issues related to basic amenities and better transportation and medical facilities were also among the numerous assurances for the April 12 by-election.
Mobile MLA office to have IT experts: The mobile MLA office will have three experts in information technology and the vehicle will visit each area a day and collect petitions from the people.
The office will help people to get ration and Aadhaar cards besides provide feedback and updates on the petitions received from the residents.
The manifesto promises to complete the construction of a college building in RK Nagar and to open a new higher secondary school in the constituency.
