Vaiko, Ramakrishnan reject cabinet berth offer

Vaiko's response came in the wake of Sudheesh declaring cabinet berths for PWA leaders.

Chennai: A day after DMDK youth wing secretary and Vijayakanth’s brother-in-law announced cabinet berths for People’s Welfare Alliance leaders, MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Wednesday turned down deputy chief minister post offered to him saying that he did not even had such a thought even in his dream.

“He (Sudheesh) has made an emotional speech. After Vijayakanth becoming chief minister, he will decide what cabinet berths should be given to the alliance parties. However, there is no such thought of becoming deputy chief minister or minister even in my imagination. Not even one per cent of chance to it,” Vaiko told a rally of DMDK-PWA front in Sattur in Virudhunagar.

Vaiko’s response came in the wake of Sudheesh declaring cabinet berths for PWA leaders. “When we win the elections, Captain will be the Chief Minister and Vaiko will be the deputy CM.

The finance minister will be G. Ramakrishnan (state CPM secretary), Thol Thirumavalavan (VCK chief) the education minister and R Mutharasan (CPI state secretary) the local administration minister”, Sudeesh said addressing a rally in Kovilpatti in Tirunelveli on Tuesday evening.

When asked about Sudeesh’s announcement of cabinet berths, CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan played down the announcement saying it was a statement made to express his confidence on alliance emerging victorious in the election. “All the decision on cabinet berths will be taken only after the polls,” he said.

Vaiko hits out at media with vada story
“I warn you that we are very dangerous people, so don’t play with us. I will not say what we will do. We will not hit you or snatch your camera, but we know how to teach you a lesson”. That was MDMK chief Vaiko’s latest missile as he continued his war with the media.

Furious at the media after a Tamil TV channel showed VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan and CPI state secretary R Mutharasan dozing on the dais during his speech at a People’s Welfare Alliance (PWA) poll rally in Palayamkottai, Vaiko said it was most likely that ‘thambi’ (younger brother) Thirumavalavan was catching a wink or two “as he is a very hardworking man and could have tired himself out”.

The PWA convenor was speaking at a DMDK-PWA poll rally at Sattur in Virudhunagar on Wednesday. Charging the media of targeting him with hawk’s eye, Vaiko said the media slander was so bad and intense that he had to hide his face while eating a vada just a while ago on the dais.

“If the media persons saw I was eating the vada, they would say I did not share my vada with the PWA partners on the dais and that meant there were divisions in this alliance. Oh, we have to be very careful with these media persons”, he said.

Vaiko had recently walked out of a TV interview when he was asked about the allegations that the PWA was just the B-team of the AIADMK and was being funded by the ruling party.

A day later, he had another spat with the media persons at the CPI (M) office in T’Nagar, when he also shouted at his party functionaries telling them to have nothing to do with the media.
