Notice to N Shankar over land dispute

While dealing with a petition filed by Mr J. Shankar, a resident of Karimnagar, who sought suspension of the GO.

Hyderabad: A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy, issued notices to the Special Chief Secretary (revenue), commissioner of HMDA and the Ranga Reddy collector, directing them to respond to a PIL which challenged allocation of five acres of prime land located in Mokilla, Shankarpally, to film producer-director N. Shankar at a nominal price of Rs 5 lakh per acre.

While dealing with a petition filed by Mr J. Shankar, a resident of Karimnagar, who sought suspension of the GO. Ms. No. 75, through which the land was allotted to the filmmaker, the bench directed the authorities to submit their contentions within four weeks. The court also issued notices to Mr N. Shankar.

The petitioner submitted that the land prices at Mokila were around Rs 5 crore per acre with a registration value of Rs 20 lakh. He said that the beneficiary was a private individual and the land allotted to him would not benefit people in any way.
