Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited’s last mile connectivity has been delayed yet again.
The HMRL had made an agreement with a private agency to provide 8, 12 and 20-seater vehicles which would connect interior areas with the Metro Rail stations.
The company had even planned to conduct trial runs in Uppal before it was dropped suddenly.
The HMRL had announced the project a year ago and it may take another six months to launch it.
Highly-placed sources in the HMRL said that six companies had offered to manufacture electric vehicles for last-mile connectivity of which only Mahindra & Mahindra came forward to take up the project and hold trials.
They said some persons in the HMRL did not give approval for the project.
HMRL managing director N.V.S. Reddy said the delay was due to the delay in the government releasing its e-vehicles policy.
More than six companies were ready to invest in the the project, he said and added that HMRL would run e-vehicles to every nook and corner of the city after six months.
