Chennai: School boy run over by MTC bus in MMDA Colony
Chennai: A schoolboy riding a two-wheeler without a licence was run over by an MTC bus in MMDA Colony on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Azhagu Sundaram (18), son of Amuthan, a daily wage earner and a resident of Pasumpon Street in MMDA Colony.
According to the police, the boy was going to a nearby ATM when the accident happened.
Sources said, at around 8 on Wednesday morning, Azhagu took his father's two-wheeler and had gone to a nearby ATM to withdraw money. When he tried to overtake an MTC bus route 15 G plying between Broadway and M.M.D.A Colony, he lost control of the two-wheeler and skidded. He fell on the road and came under the rear wheel of the bus and died on the spot. The bus driver did not stop the bus and sped away.
The boy’s body was shifted to the Kilpauk Government Hospital for a post mortem examination. The Anna Nagar traffic investigation police registered a case and have launched a search operation to nab the bus driver.
