Chennai: Woman's leg stuck in toilet of train, freed after 2-hour struggle

Chennai: In a bizarre incident, a woman from Andhra Pradesh had her leg stuck deep in the western commode of a toilet in the Hyderabad bound Charminar express at the Central Railway station here, officials said.

They said, Bharathamma (40), who appeared to be mentally challenged got into the compartment after loitering on the platform for sometime. She went to the toilet and did not know how to use a western-style commode. While trying to use it as per her understanding, her right leg got caught in the toilet hole.

Afterstruggling for a while, she raised an alarm, attracting the attention of passengers and help arrived.

After trying for one and a half hours, the railway workers completely removed and dismantled the iron structure and freed her. A medical team then rushed her to a nearby medical centre.

After she was freed, the railway officials found that she had no ticket . They provided her with one and put her on the train.

The commotion resulted in Charminar Express departing 30 minutes late from the Chennai central station.
