SVS students to join government college
Chennai: In a major respite to students of the infamous SVS Medical College of Yoga and Naturopathy in Villupuram district, where three students were found dead under mysterious circumstances, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Saturday ordered transfer of the college students to state-run college.
“I have ordered the transfer of students of yoga and naturopathy to the state-run Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College,” she said in a release.
Central government permission had to be obtained to transfer the students and the state has been directed to obtain the necessary clearances.
The state is taking all steps to ensure that the studies of the students are not affected, Jayalalithaa said.
She also said the case relating to the death of three students of the college had been transferred to CB-CID by the Director General of Police based on her orders.
The college was approved during the previous DMK rule with 50 seats for yoga and naturopathy. At present, an application seeking continuous provisional approval is pending with Dr MGR Medical University, the Chief Minister said.
