RMP meets Kummanam Rajasekharan on CBI probe into TP murder

BJP state president offers to take up with Modi wider conspiracy angle.

THRISSUR: RMP leader N Venu met BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan here on Saturday and handed over a request seeking CBI probe into the wider conspiracy in the T. P. Chandrashekaran murder case.

After the half-an-hour meeting held at Ramanilayam Government Guest House here, Mr Rajasekharan told media persons that he would take up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as requested by RMP leader.

“State BJP also shares the same view of the RMP that CBI should take up the probe,” he added.

Mr Venu told DC that K. K. Rema, the leader of the party and the widow of slain RMP leader T. P. Chandrashekaran, had handed over a request to the state government demanding a CBI probe two weeks ago. But the state home ministry was yet to forward it to the Union government.

“The state government had earlier set up an SIT probe, headed by an ADGP to inquire into the wider conspiracy of the political murder. However, the team is almost dysfunctional now. Besides that, it has opined that to solve the case, more call records have to be found out as a part of the investigation. It will be prudent that the CBI takes up the matter,” Mr Venu added.
