Mumbai man arrested for cheating techie and family

Hyderabad: The police arrested a Mumbai man for cheating a Hyderabadi family by offering them jobs in Canada. The suspect extracted thousands from a BTech graduate, his wife and brother-in-law in the name of flight and visa charges and medical tests.

Police said the victims were promised that their visas would be handed over at Park Hyatt but they realised they had been duped when they went to the hotel. The victim, Mir Fahad Ali got a job offer from one Sundeep of Horizon Consultancy a few months ago. “They asked him to send copies of certificates and passport. Later, they told him that his job would be with the YYC Calgary Airport Authority. The victim then asked whether his wife and brother-in-law could also get jobs in Canada. The firm offered jobs to them also,” said an official from CCS.

The firm demanded Rs18,000 for each job and gave them an account number. “After they paid Rs 54,000 the consultancy asked them to pay half the cost of flight tickets. The victims paid Rs 49,000,” said the official. Later, the victims realised they had been duped.

The police arrested Syed Razik from Navi Mumbai. The cops recovered Rs 22,000, a car, 20 phones, 23 debit cards, three PAN cards and a money counting machine from him.
