Flyers to be screened for zika
Hyderabad: Travellers from South and Central America and the Caribbean sea area will be screened at airports after the alert sounded by the World Health Organisation. Screening at airports is to begin from next week.
An advisory has been issued to travellers to report to the doctor at the airport if they are suffering from fever, body rash, conjunctivitis and joint and muscle pains.A list of the travellers who returned from these countries is being prepared so that they can be easily traced.
Dr K. Narsimulu, professor of internal medicine at Gandhi Hospital, said, “The government has asked us to follow the same advisory pattern that was used for Ebola. Pregnant women must be very careful. If they are infected with the virus, the newborn will be affected.”
